What is HKAS CIT?

HKAS is a Hybrid Kidney Algorithm Combinatorial Interaction Testing Strategy. WHKAS use a Hybrid Kidney Algorithm (HKA) which is developed by Dr. Ameen Ba Homaid (Project member) to generate the final test cases set (FTS) with most optimum (minimize) size. The generation FTS with optimum size is NP-Hard problem.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. AbdulRahman Ahmed Mohammed Al-Sewari​

Project Leader

AbdulRahman A. Al-Sewari received his Ph.D. degree in Software Engineering from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Pinang, Malaysia in 2012. He has more than 10 years of Research and Teaching experience in the domain of Computer Engineering and Computer Science. Currently, he is an Associate Professor with the Faculty of Computing, University Malaysia Pahang.
His research interests include Soft Computing Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Optimization  Algorithms, Image Processing, and Machine Learning.

Prof. Ts. Dr. Kamal Zuhairi bin Zamli​

Project Expert

Kamal Z. Zamli received the degree in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, USA, in 1992, the  M.Sc. degree in real-time software engineering from  Universiti Teknologi Malaysia,  in 2000, and the Ph.D. degree in software engineering from  the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, U.K., in 2003. He  is currently a Professor and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) of Universiti Malaysia Pahang. He has authored or
co-authored one book, more than 30 articles, and more than 350 papers in
journals and conferences worldwide mainly in the areas of (combinatorial
t-way) software testing and search-based software engineering.

Dr. Ameen Ali Ba Homaid

Project member / Developer

Ameen A. Ba Homaid received the degree in computer sciences from Al-Ahgaff University, Yemen in 2005, the M.Sc. degree in software engineering from Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Malaysia in 2016. He have passed his viva voce for PHD in Software Engineering at Universiti Malaysia Pahang in 2021. He has authored or co-authored more than 10 articles, and papers in journals and conferences worldwide mainly in the areas of (combinatorial t-way) software testing and search-based software engineering.

Product Background​

  •  A common problem in IoT systems is the large number of the combinations of hardware, operational, and software configurations that required to be tested to ensure the IoT systems are free of bugs.
  • Due to the limitations of time and cost, there is a need for testing efforts minimization but with sufficient testing efforts.
  • Generate a test list is NP-hard problem.

  • The first IoT combinatorial test list generation Strategy Based On HK Algorithm.
  • Improves software testing practices with
    lesser test size, hence reduce testing costs.
  • More effective at finding software faults.
  •  Result of Comparing with Existing Strategies.
  • It is the first Web-based tool based on a
    Hybrid optimization algorithm (HK).
  • It Supports Uniform interaction strength,
    Variable interaction strength, Input / Output relation, and Seeding.
